I know that there are medications to treat hypertension but are there other natural home remedies that can aid in lowering blood pressure?

Avoid salt, pork, and stress. Other than that, you need to see a doctor if you have high blood pressure, rather than trying to treat it yourself. Hypertension is a silent killer.

You can eat less salt, but hypertension can lead to all kinds of other problems if not controlled such as blindness, kidney disease, heart disease, stroke, etc. Isn’t your life worth more than saving a few bucks for medication?

I have heard of the following, (disclaimer) none of which would replace being treated by a doctor or health care provider:

    1. Pharmaceutical grade fish oil- I take this myself and it helps.
    2. Limit the sodium in your diet- I do this, too
    3. Black Cohosh- I have never used this- be careful, as there is a similar herb called Blue Cohosh whic could actually RAISE your BP!
    4. I’ve heard that eating four stalks of celery a day will lower blood pressure. Again, I have no personal experience with this.

Also make sure to keep hydrated- drink lots of water. Good luck!

Cut the salt out. Take garlic supplements or add garlic to cooking ..Don’t try to treat it yourself though as High Blood Pressure can be dangerous if left untreated .Go and see you GP ,and if you have to go on melds they will regulate it for you Good Luck.

Of all the things that can go wrong with your circulatory system, hypertension is the worst… And it is not necessarily associated with age… Hypertension is like a hose with too much water pressure in it. You certainly can lower your cholesterol with diet….. steel cut oats, walnuts blue berries and ground flax seed for breakfast will lower it 30 points in two months, but it is unlikely to affect your hypertension too much. Hypertension is commonest in those overweight, so obviously, loose it if you are. Exercise too, will tend to lower it. If dropping weight and correcting your diet doesn’t work, take the meds… hypertension is nothing to fool around with..
