Is it possible to still have hypertension 6mos after pre-enclampsia?

My baby was induced 2 months early because of scary blood pressures. 6 months later and I am still fairly heavily medicated for the hypertension. Is this unusual? Any ideas how to get my blood pressure under control?
I have lost the pregnancy weight but am still heavy. My blood pressure was good through most of the pregnancy until 7 mos.
I don’t add salt to anything I eat but don’t go out of my way to avoid when eating out.

Have you lost or losing the baby weight? Are there other health concerns? Are you really stressing? Do others in you family have high blood pressure? Is your salt intake huge, putting it on everything? Are the conditions the existed with your pregnancy still evident?

I had preecalmpsia with my first baby (he’s 5 yrs old now), and I’m still on bp meds. The doc said I will probably be on it for the rest of my life. I have lost some, but not all of the pregnancy weight, as I’ve had another child since then. Maybe once you lose the pregnancy weight, you could decrease your dose, but I can’t say that you’ll get to come off the med all together.

If you had pre-enclampsia, you should be checking your blood pressure every day, or every other day….so, is it still high, or not? If its still high, and you are not happy about it, get a Drs appt.

I know someone above said that they still have it, but I have always been told that in cases of pre-eclampsia the baby is the problem. Once the baby is born the problem is supposed to go away. I am assuming you are still seeing your doctor since you are still on meds. I would have a serious talk to the doctor about what is going on. Being overweight can cause you to have high BP of course, but if you didn’t have it before the pregnancy to me it does not make sense. If you doctor is not answering these questions adequately, I would seek a second opinion.
