low carb food plans such as South Beach Living and Atkins phase 2 are very easy to follow and are good for lowering hypertension and regulating Cholesterol numbers also.
They are NOT high protein or high fat and have been proven to be very advantageous to those with heart diseases and blood disorders such as diabetes.
Weight loss usually accomplishes much of what they hand out pharmacy loads of meds for, much less expensively. But this also requires good exercise such as walking in fresh air.

The best tip I ever got was to eat
1. Walnuts, studies have shown eating 6 walnut halves reduces plaque and blood pressure
2. Bananas
3. Green leafy vegetables
4. Oily fish –salmon, sardines, tuna
