because salt/salty foods raises the pressure inside you. so to prevent your blood pressure from raising, you should avoid sodium as well as urinate as much as possible to remove excess water (and salt) out of your body.

sodium “attracts” water (that is why when you eat something very salty, you get thirsty), so, when you have a high sodium level in your blood, it will increase the volume of your circulating blood (by attracting fluid from other tissues), thereby increasing the pressure inside your blood vessels. There are other various reasons why salt increases blood pressure but this is the easiest to understand.
The easiest way to reduce salt intake is to try honestly and hardly to eliminate the salt in the table, and to reduce the salt in the kitchen (that is kinda hard because needs the compromise of all in the family) and also by giving up on delicious salty foods (bye bye salty fried potatoes…)
