I have hypertension. What type of diet is good for me? What foods or herbs are good for this? What herbs or foods should I avoid? Obviously fried foods. Any other suggestions?

The first thing to do is curb your sodium intake.

Second. Look into a diet suited for hypertensives.

Third. Consult a top notch physician.

Fourth. Make sure you truly have high blood pressure.

White coat pressure (seeing medical professionals) (can) artificially spike one’s readings.

avoid foods high in sodium, try to eat foods that have 400mg or less per serving, and as always lots of fruits, vegetables, and whole grains. Omega 3 supplements are very good too, just check w/ your dr first to make sure they won’t interact w/ any of your prescriptions.

Celery is a good BP lowerer. Make sure you get enough potassium - lots of people with hypertension have low potassium levels BUT be sure not to take excessive amounts as it can become toxic. Garlic is always good. Magnesium and calcium are good, but despite what you hear - it’s best not to take them together. B Complex vitamins are good for stress. DON’T eat licorice, caffeine, chocolate, ginseng. Watch the salt/sodium intake. Peppermint tea helps with water retention and peps you up without constricting your blood vessels. Watermelon is also a good diuretic. Lemongrass tea is a very mild relaxer. If you don’t have allergies - chamomile tea is great for tension. Hawthorne berry tea or supplements tend to help regulate heart function and blood pressure.
