Implications?
Complications of hypertension are:
increased risk for cardiac problems
kidney disease
renal failure
coronary heart disease
CHF
stroke
atrial fibrillation
TIA
Stroke
If she stays on her meds and keeps her blood pressure at a normal level, sees her doctor every 3-6mo than she will do well.

Okay that is not that high. Yes, over normal but not that bad. If she is overweight, losing just 10-20 lbs could fix this. The meds are bad business. Mine is down to normal from 160/100 on a regular basis just by losing weight and changes in my diet.

First, hypertension is not a respiratory disease.
It is cardiovascular (heart and vessels).
Hypertension is the medical name for high blood pressure.
If your friend is 21 and has it - it must be controlled. She’s way too young.
High blood pressure can lead to heart disease, heart attack, stroke, athersclerosis, peripheral vascular disease, blindness, kidney failure, and a host of other diseases.
Check out this site for more information on what it is and how to control it (with and without medications).
