No, that is not true. Although it is recommended that many people with hypertension take aspirin daily for its protective effects on the heart, most anti-hypertensives do not contain aspirin. I am not aware of any cross sensitivities between aspirin and most anti-hypertensives. However, you should make a point of reminding your doctor of any allergies just before he writes you a prescription.

I’m a cardiology nurse and I’ve never heard that before. Oftentimes, people with hypertension are taking medications to control their blood pressure, and they’re also on an aspirin regimen (like 325 mg or 81 mg per day). there are many blood pressure medications, talk to your doctor about which one is right for you.

Aspirin has been proven to reduce heart attacks and is usually given as a preventative medecine in 81mg daily doses. Hypertension is treated by a whole other class of drugs and there are many different kinds that do not contain aspirin.
I personally take Altace for my hypertension.
Webmd.com has lots of info about hypertension.
Hope this helps!!

Hypertensive medications do not contain aspirin. What ever made you think they do? Physicians suggest small aspirin to prevent heart attacks to patients on anti hypertensives. Try Diltiazem. It works well. Requires a Rx

Antihypertensives don’t contain aspirin at all. Maybe you’re confusing the 2 because doctors usually start patients who have hypertension on aspirin also because they ar at risk for a stroke or a cardiac event, heart attack. Aspirin thins out the blood so it does clump together and clog the arteries.

No medications prescribed by your physician to control blood pressure contain aspirin.
