I had hypertension when I was younger than 19. It is becoming more and more common for young people to have high blood pressure because of the obesity epidemic. Controlling your high blood pressure is the key. I take an ace inhibitor, Lisinopril (prinzide) and it has regulated my blood pressure very well. I am 22 by the way.
You will also notice that exercising 2-3 times a week and losing just 10 pounds usually makes a noticeable difference in lowering your blood pressure.

Developing hypertension while still in the teens is unusual though this can happen with a strong family history of hypertension. Also secondary causes of hypertension like coarctation of the aorta can cause hypertension in younger age groups.

NORMALNO, BUT IT DOES HAPPEN. THERE IS ALSO ‘WHITE COAT SYNDROME’ WHERE PEOPLE WEARING WHITE COATS CAUSE A PSYCHOLGICAL CHANGE WHICH IN EFFECT CAUSES THE BP TO RISE.

No, if you know somebody who’s that young and has consistantly high BP readings, it’s probably worth it to rule out causes of secondary hypertension (renal artery stenosis, pheochromocytoma, things like that, they’re rare, but more common in young hypertensives than older people). That being done, sometimes it just happens, all you can do is treat and try to keep it controlled as well as possible.

hypertension is just chroincally high BP, so if your under alot of stress, or have high cholesterol or drink alot of coffee, sure. but normally, most teens dont have have hyptertension as it can develop in later ages. so while its not common, its not impossible, and with the right steps, you can help yourself.

hypertension is a condition that may affect every organ in the body, it’s not normal for ANYONE to have hypertension… but yes it is possible to have it, no matter age, sex or any other factor
