Is pre-hypertension really a danger or just a warning?
July 10th, 2008 | by Pressurized |Go Girl asked:
My BP is consistantly above normal but not way high. Maybe 145/85 on average. Occasionally dipping to normal. My doc says not to worry since I am very healthy otherwise. He said lay off the caffeine and salt. I stopped caffeine but the salt is very hard.
Just to add, I am very fit. I exercise 6x per week. So fitness isn’t the issue. I think it’s my diet. I eat out a lot and salt everything.

If you continue to partake in bad health habits, your bp will progressively get higher…thus becoming plain old hypertension. High blood pressure is nothing to mess around with.
Prehypertension is a warning…warning you to lay off the god damn salt and soda and start exercising before it’s too late!

yes u need to lay off salty food ect. but definatly get this taken care of, hypertension leads to death if not properly taken care of

I think your body screams for help. Do not take medication unless necessary, try some sport and diet. Take it easy with the stress and sleep enough every night. No drinks and definitely no smoking. Every food contains already a lot of salt, so do not use it in excess. Coffee tastes good but is not for you. You can taste all I said you should not but limit yourself . Too much is bad. Too little is sad. Good luck.

It just puts you at larger risk of earlier health problems that may come with age is all.

Gee, sounds like me 5 years ago. Doctor said I was fine.
I had an emergency triple bypass in January 2006. Fit and trim, but horrid arteries.
Elevated BP can cause micro damage to artery walls, which will initiate plaque buildup and blockages, like I had.
Get a better diet, and reduce stress. Lots of fruits and healthy juices. Cut back to chicken breasts only. Berries, green tea and pomegranates.
for research, try .
