Can you tell me why some medicines are not safe for people with intraocular hypertension or glaucoma?

I am taking a cough medicine called Tussionex. I have noticed that it (among others) has a warning label for people with glaucoma. I have been monitored with intraocular hypertension for about a year now. Could this medicine hurt my eyesight?

Thanks for your advice.

some medicines raise blood pressure or are hypertensive…hence the warning for people that have glaucoma……monitoring your pressure is good…check with eye doc if you should use that cough medicine just to be safe….

Some medicines have anticholinergic effects, and this can worsen some types of glaucoma.
You should not take any medication with this warning until you clear it with your ophthalmologist.

Some meds will dilate the pupils just a bit, raising intraocular pressure. If you already have glaucoma, the increase could impair your vision, yes.
